Sports in Action Mural at Larkin Park

The West Barrhaven Commmunity Association is proud to have partnered with the Barrhaven Community Police Center and the Barrhaven Lions Club to produce a Sports themed mural "Sports in Action" at Larkin House, 76 Larkin Drive.    This project was part of the "Paint it Up" program offered by the City of Ottawa and Crime Prevention Ottawa.    Youth at risk were involved both in the design of this project and will be actively painting the mural in the next few days.

Murals are large-scale artworks created directly on a wall, or attached to it, with the permission of the property owner. Outdoor murals have proven to be effective in managing graffiti vandalism, supporting arts and culture, contributing to economic development and providing youth engagement opportunities.

Murals have the potential to beautify and enhance local areas throughout communities with images that reflect and depict culture, history or visions of artistic expression.
